With the release/rumors of new phones like the HTC U Ultra, Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and the Nokia 8, where does Samsung have themselves in the game? The Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung’s latest flagship, is expected to release sometime mid April, and it contains some pretty killer specifications inside.
The S8 is expected to contain a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and Adreno 540 gpu, A 5.7 inch 1440p Super AMOLED display, that is expected to have a small version most likely 5.1 inches, a 12MP back shooter with OIS and 4k and 60fps (could be dual ), 6 or 8gb of RAM (depending on the model), up to 128gb of storage with micro sd up to 256gb of storage, and Android Nougat 7.0 or 7.1.
The design is also intended to be all metal, with the camera flash on the top of the camera hump, speaker on the botttom, logo on the bottom front, and so on.
One of the largest design features that Samsung will leave out with this newest device is the home button/media controls. Wait, so if theres no home button, how is there a fingerprint scanner? Samsung will address this problem by implementing a scanner into the home screen itself! Using Qualcomm’s vibrate technologies, the scanner will be able to tell your fingerprint by certain vibration calibrations on the screen itself. The media keys will obviously be moved onto the homescreen as onscreen buttons, in that new update of Nougat for just that device.
Another rumor about the S8 that could be quite interesting for when the phone is the integration with AI Assistant, kind of like Siri. According to Galaxy Club, the assistant is expected to be called Bixby, and could compete as high with assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant. We dont make many details yet, since the assistant is probably in development like now, but what we do know is that it could use the phone’s camera for search results. Its an interesting concept, but I really dont think it will help that much.
Our final rumor is that the S8 is expected to have a retina scanner, just like on the Note 7. On the Note 7, this added a marvelous level of security because retina scanners are harder to fake than fingerprints, so it adds a layer of protection. Anyways, it would be able to let you unlock your phone, and as well apps/folders, to boost main security.
